Karen Jackson, President of Embrace Your Power, LLC, is a strategic Communicator and Collaborator who empowers nonprofits and ministry and business leaders, to build brands and businesses that turn their passions and purpose into profits.
A published author, digital marketing, program and event specialist, and motivational speaker and trainer is no stranger to the Marketing and Communications industry having spent 20 years in various roles in the private and nonprofit sectors.
Her enthusiasm, leadership skills, and ability to work and communicate with diverse groups allow her to produce innovative, creative, and mission-driven results with passion, efficiency, and effectiveness.
Her professional career includes serving as a freelance reporter/writer and columnist with the Dayton Daily News, as well as serving in various leadership and management roles at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton Weekly News, and the Dayton Communicator News. She has been a trailblazer in the marketing industry, having served as the first black woman Exploring Executive for the Boy Scouts of America, and the first School and Community Relations Specialist for Middletown City Schools. She currently leads strategic marketing and program initiatives at the Life Enrichment Center, which serves and inspires Dayton’s most vulnerable population to transform their lives. Karen has received both state and national awards and recognitions for her work and leadership, including being recognized for guiding the communication efforts of a school district split, which had not occurred in Ohio in decades.
The certified nonprofit professional has also received special recognitions such as the 2020-2021 Woman of Impact Award by the Better Business Bureau’s Women In Business; First Place for her graduate research at the 2017 Alliance Management Institute; and commendations by the Air Force Commander and the School Public Relations Association for outstanding writing, community relations, event planning, and strategic communication initiatives and publication development.
Her passion and advocacy for women and young girls inspired her in 2016 to create the Women of Purpose and Power initiative, which empowers women and youth to discover and embrace the power within to pursue their true purpose, passions, and dreams. Her volunteer work also includes serving as a Trustee at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church and Board Member of the Mt. Carmel Community Development Corporation(CDC).
Karen earned a Bachelor in Journalism from The Ohio State University and a Masters in Public Administration from Wright State University. She is also certified in nonprofit management and leadership and In-bound Strategic Marketing.
